Consider what the Superchain actually is. It is a family of OP Stack chains sharing a common technical standard and, in principle, a common liquidity and interoperability layer. Membership in that family does not confer token value. Value accrues to a chain only through genuine usage β transaction volume, deployed capital, active addresses, fee generation. And in the L2 landscape, the distribution of that usage is brutally concentrated. A handful of chains capture the overwhelming majority of TVL and activity. The long tail β of which a rebranded legacy L1 is a textbook member β operates at utilization levels that round to zero against the leaders.
A 515 percent token move does not change a single metric on that chain. It does not migrate a user. It does not deploy a contract. It does not deepen on-chain liquidity in any durable way. The token and the network are two different assets that happen to share a name, and on September 13 only one of them moved.
This is the decoupling thesis in its purest form. Market participants increasingly trade the ticker while ignoring the protocol. The ticker obeys leverage, float, and sentiment.
